Hi, I’m Gurpreet; currently your elected Vice President Democracy and Services. I studied Mathematics and Business Joint Honours here at UH. I have served two terms as an elected Student Trustee at Hertfordshire Students’ Union. I have also been involved in successfully running a Hertfordshire Students’ Union society, where I held the role of Vice President for two consecutive years. Furthermore, I have served as Vice-Chair on the Societies Federation Committee during my final year. I was voted on to the elections committee, through what was then Student Council. I was involved in overseeing the elections, ensuring that the process was fair, impartial and upholding the values of democracy. Outside university, I am the Director for Recruitment and Health and Safety for a Community Interest Company.

 

Why I’m standing 

I have enjoyed working for and with Hertfordshire Students’ Union through the various roles I have undertaken. As a trustee, I help the rest of the board determine the best strategy for Hertfordshire Students’ Union, scrutinise financial reports and ensure that student’s views are at the centre of all decisions. This involvement with Hertfordshire Students’ Union has created a real passion for the organisation. I feel that I have developed enough knowledge of Hertfordshire Students’ Union and the leadership, communication and representational skills essential for getting results for students.
