Jack Amos - #1 President

I’m Jack Amos your Vice-President Democracy and Services at Hertfordshire Students’ Union. This is my fifth year at Herts and I have been heavily involved with the SU since my first year. I was your Raise and Give Officer and Student Trustee, where I engaged in scrutiny and strategic decision-making. The skills and experience I have easily make me the most credible candidate for President.

Why I’m standing

Being one of your Vice-Presidents and directors of the SU, I am in the perfect position to be President. I have a passion for improving the student experience at Hertfordshire and I am one of the longest serving representatives of students at our university. I will continue using my knowledge, skills and connections to improve student life at Herts!

I Promise to . .

Paperless Coursework

I will propose for all coursework where possible to be paperless, so students have a standardised way to submit work. This will save students money on printing and allow coursework to be submitted in a convenient way.

Improve UnoBus

I will continue my work to ensure UnoBus improve their service by working with the Vice-President Democracy & Services to ensure better communication, and ensuring UnoBus’ service is centered around the needs of students.

Assessment and Feedback

I will propose the assessment turnaround period is reduced from 4 to 3 weeks and will work to see less clustering, where there are often long periods of no assessments followed by short periods of intense work.

Facility Opening Times

I will improve access to facilities during the evenings and weekends so students can use specialist computer software and other facilities outside of normal working hours.

Make the SU Heard

I will give students a stronger voice by ensuring student representation at all levels within the university, so the student viewpoint can never be ignored.

What I've achieved so far

As Vice-President I've provided more support than ever to student representation, and the improvement of services at Hertfordshire. Students were disappointed with UnoBus, so I presented a paper to the university which helped secure more busses, £1 Hatfield tickets for students, and over £100,000 for driver training!

Why vote for me?

I am passionate about the points I stand for, and I am in a brilliant position to progress from Vice-President to President. I will improve your student experience and I will continue the great work I have been doing by representing you for one final year.
